Hi, I want to know what I can do with my father since he abandoned me. He stopped sending money way back 1996. Then I was able to reach him in 2005 then he stopped sending money and communicating with me all together. Now I was able to reach him again he doesn't send anything he doesn't even communicate with me it's my stepmom who is sending me emails. Now I'm 21 I want to do something about this because I know what he did was wrong he stopped sending money for my education and all and it seems he have no plans for me. Formerly he was an Australian now he is an american. What I want to happen is to acquire us citizenship so that I could join the army.. help on what to do

I'm really not sure what you are looking for as far as your father is concerned. I'm going to guess that you were born and raised in Australia and your mom had a support order that the court granted? Why, if you were born and raised in Australia, would you want to be in the U.S. army?

I don't understand your question - what are you trying to do? Collect back support? Move to the US and become a citizen? Somehow punish your father for ignoring you?

To become an american citizen at the least, if possible collect on back support. Kind of punish him too for what has he done to me.

HI!

I was born and raised in the philippines at that time my father was an Australian. I'm not really sure if my mom and dad were married, all I do know is my father has his signature on my birth certificate. My dad was sending checks for us there was no court order it was their agreement I guess. My mom is dead now, so I can't really know what happened why did my dad stopped sending money. Want to gain us citizebship for me to join the army if possible, collect back support.

If there was not child support order from the court then he dosen't owe any child support current or back support. So, there is no way you can collect that. Basically, there is nothing that you can "do to" your dad it was your mothers responsibility to do something if she wanted but apparently she didn't. It will probably sound harsh but you will have to move on with your life. You can hire an agency to try to locate him if you want to meet him but he can deny that too. You don't have to have a parent in the U.S. to come to the U.S. and him being here really isn't going to get you citizenship either. Not saying you can't get it but it won't be because he lives here. You will have to first come here and meet all the requirements and pass the citizenship test.

My mom or me haven't filed anyhting yet. My mom is dead.I'm going to file it myself early next year. At " that " time I had nothing to do because I was little now I'm all grown I will do something about it. I don't need an agency I have all his info- I mean all. My dad was already naturalized in the US.

You can't file for child support in the U.S. and as I said I'm not sure what the laws in the philippines are (where you were born so your mother would have had to file there). You really should hire an attorney though because you are going to need to know a lot more information about the country that you have to file in. But as I said you can not file for child support in the U.S. where your dad is now that just isn't legal here even if you were a citizen it was only your mom that could have collected.

Your focus now is to be a US citizen so must be in good terms with your father. Since your father now is a US citizen, he should have petition you but ask immigration officers since you're over age now. We all know that it's hard to do it if you are from here.

I am also an abandoned child but just a pice of advise, there's no point of wanting your dad to pay for what he had done for you. That's still your father no matter what. You are old enough and just learn from what happened to your parents.
