All right I researched this subject like crazy - I am going to score the concrete floor so that it looks like tiles - this is my basement floor. Id like a nice smooth and glossy finish when Im done. Im going to use an acid stain and I am familiar with how to stain the floor. My questions are:

a) what is the best gloss product to seal the floor and leave a nice glossy easy to clean surface?

b) I have read both ways on this - but should I polish the floor before or after I stain it?

You could use masking tape to tape grout lines instead of scoring the concrete. I find the flat surface is so much easier to clean. For a sealer I use a couple of coats of water-based acrylic poly and then several coats of ZEP floor sealer applied with a grout sponge. It is a high gloss and dries in about 30 minutes. Use a PH neutral cleaner like murphy's oil soap or just a damp mop to clean.
