My daughter has a nissan micra 1.2s (2003 reg ). The car engine runs o/k but has the following problems.
1-Occasionly the car engine cuts out whilst driving but restarts and drives o/k.
2-On cold starting the car the excelerator has to be pumped and revs held for a while on starting.

This is common to a failing fuel pump, but could also be the Ignition Control Module (ICM) heating up and shutting off.

These symptoms sound like a dirty throttle bore and/or throttle plate. The first step is to visually inspect the condition of those and if found to be contaminated with carbon build-up, clean them properly and follow up with a vigorous road test.
