What is the square root of 50? And how did you get it?

How have you been taught to find it? A calculator will tell you immediately what it is, to good precision (and accuracy! ;))

Well that's obviously wrong, the square root of 50 will be somewhere near 7 (7^2=49)

Does it help if you realise that \sqrt{50} = \sqrt{25*2}? (hint: it should do! )
