I living in Missouri and Lately I've been looking for a bank to start my saving, but I don’t know which bank would be in my best interest to start my savings. Another question I would like to add to that is do you need a lot of money to start a savings with a bank? For example if I wanted to start with 500.00 and put that amount in my savings every month would that be fine?

One thing to consider: take a look at the newer on-line banks such as HSBC and ING. You can set up a savings account and tie it to your existing checking account to move money in and out. Interest rates are generally better than the "bricks and mortar" banks - currenty about 3%. I find that it generally takes about 3 days to transfer money between my checking account and HSBC.
