Hi everyone,

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I'm trying to install a new bathroom exhaust fan where there wasn't one beforehand.

So, I've got it in the ceiling, I now need to make it work.

I would like a separate switch from the light switch that's currently there. I've cut out the hole in the wall and got the box. I bought a fancy switch that has 4 preset timer buttons on it, 30 min, 20 min, 10 min and 5 min. and an off button. It has a black, a white, a neutral and a blue wire coming out of it.

I need to find a power source (junction box) nearby or run a new line from the panel in the basement (I'm up in the attic) --I think.

I'm not sure what to do with that blue wire coming out of the wall switch.
The exhaust fan only has one setting.

I'm also not sure which way to run the wires, i.e. from where to where.

Can I run the power to the fan and then from the fan to the switch? If so, what to do with the blue wire?

Do I need to run 2 sets of wire to the switch? The light switch that's already there just has the one set (one black, one white no ground).

I hope this is clear!

Thanks again fro any advice.

Wow you are far from getting it to work. The blue wire is the command to the fan, you will need an electrician, the light switch box should be change to a double gang, some missing wires should be pulled to the new box (nutral, switch leg to fan). Man get an electrician.
