For the last week and a half I have been wakening up in the morning with a white coating on my tongue. I brush my teeth and tngue twice a day and do not have any oral health problems. I have been suffering from a severe cold, for the same period, which had now turned into a heavy head cold and am wondering if the two are related?

Try a tongue scraper, they work wonders, but other than that I don't think it is unusual.

You're probably unable to breathe through your nose, and so are breating through your mouth at night, this causes a higher buildup of bacteria, debris and dead skin on the tongue, which is causing the white coating.
It's not anything to be worried about.

Where do you get a tongue scraper? That sounds interesting. I hate the buildup of bacteria on my tongue.
Thanks!

You can find them a lot of places, like WalMart, Target, Walgreens... look in the toothpaste aisle, by the floss and other stuff. It has a handle and a connected V, works wonders for bad breath and bad taste in your mouth.
