I am planning to put wall tile in for a shower. I have backer board attached to the studs and I will be taping the joints. My question is do I need a membrane as well? Also I could only find one type of thinset called 1 spread and set. Is this all I need? It says it is not for areas of standing water but this will be a wall so is that OK? It is white and is latex fortified. Is there a better kind to get? I have only tiled floors before so I have just used mortar thinset before.

We are installing 4x4 ceramic tile in a small standup shower.

Thanks

Are you asking if you need a membrane for the shower walls or the shower base? You do have a flange type shower drain, (see image) installed don't you? Regards, Tom

I meant do I need a membrane just for the walls. Also what do I need to attach the tiles?
