Situation: Last year I moved my elderly Mother to VA to live near me in a Nursing Home as she is recovers from a broken hip. She suffers from Parkinson's disease and her mental acuity continues to decline. She owns a house in GA; she owns this house free and clear of any liens. Her name along with my late father are on the house deed. I have a general power of attorney from her.

Question: I want to add my name to the deed, as a joint owner... so the house does not need to pass through Probate upon her death. How do I do this?

At the top of the Real Estate Law forum there is a post about how to add someone to a deed. You can read it at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/real-estate-law/how-add-someone-your-deed-91136.html

But remember if her bill in the nursing home is not covered by her insurnance, and there is unpaid balances, they will be able to put a lien on her property
