I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 5 years now. We have been through a lot of hard times together. Hes the only man I have truly fell in love with. He was in prison for 5 yrs, not for anything serious, and I got with him pretty much right after he got out. After 2 1/2 yrs of dating I kind of started asking about the whole marriage thing. He always had said he wants to marry me and he loves me more than anything. I don't think he was real serious about it all though. Just a few weeks ago he came home smashed, and we got into a argument, (bad idea) and he freaked out on me. He didn't hurt me physically but he made a mess. After that he realized he should not drink and according to him he realized how much he loves me truly now. Now he is the persistent one on getting married and is getting ready to buy me a ring. Is he serious or just trying to make up for being an ? Are we ready?

If he is a good boy for a year and a half, then I would consider it. Until then NO WAY!!

Often people can put their best foot forward to get what they want. That's what he is doing.
