My boss informed me that a position I had interviewed for was not being offered to me due to the hiring manager having received some negative feedback from my 'unknown sources'. When I asked my boss for specifics, he said the hiring manager would not divulge his source(s).
My bosses work ethic is questionable and I don't put it past him as being the source. How can I approach the hiring manager about his supposed comments? What if I find out that the hiring manager was all ready to hire me until my bosses sabatoged my chances? I need to know if the hiring manager really said those things about me or if my boss was the culprit, as this could hurt other opportunities.
If I do find out the hiring manager never said those things, how do I approach my boss? I want to leave his department but I really don't want to get fired.
Thank you for any assistance.
