Just purchased the floor model of a DYSON DC07 and since I brought it home have noticed that there is really very little suction coming from the main machine. The hose works well, but when I use the main machine it seems pretty weak. Especially when I turn it to the 'Bare Floor' setting. I have mostly hard wood and hoped that the All Floor model would be good for that. I also have animals... I thought the rotating brush was working, but now I think it is just "brushing" the carpets. I cleaned off the hair that was wrapped around the brush after my first vaccuuming and placed the hair on the hard wood, turned it to the bare floor setting and it did not even make the hair tremble... The machine was already put together when I bought it.. why does it have suction with the hose and not with the main head..

Check the hose that is on the bottom of the unit connected to the brush housing.
