We are trying to repair a leaking shower. However, we've found what we are needing to do this is a 4 inch rough in valve. So far this seems impossible to find. Any ideas where we could find this part or if its called something different? Any help would be greatly appreciatied. Thanks! Becky

Tell me a little bit more about this"4 inch rough in valve"? What does it do? Is it part of the drainage? A shower valve? Where is lt located? Back in the 70's I worked in trailer factories as a plumber so I'm familiar with how they're plumbed. I just need a place to start. Help me out here! Cheers, tom

Probably should be having someone with a little more knowledge than myself answering... basically the water is leaking behind the shower handles. The rough in valve, if I understand correctly, is the part that comes into the back of the handles. Also the trailer was made in Canada, which has presented other problems with electrical repair and such... not sure if this affects the plumbing or not.

The trailer factories I worked in are in Florida. You have described a leaking shower valve. You said handles. Does it have one or two handles? What's the brand name of the shower valve? Is it leaking inside the wall or from the stems as the shower's running?
Give me some idea of what it looks like or a brand name and I'll put up some drawings for you to look at. Do you know the material the pipes in your trailer are made of? Copper? Plastic? Let me know, Tom

Becky, you can get Moen single handle valve with round trim plate. ( I am suggesting Moen brand bcs it has small, compact body). You will have to drill new hole exactly in the middle, bet. Those two existing holes. Install new Moen rough-in through the wall. Connect h/c water pipes and shower/ tub stub outs. The round plate is about 8" across. It will cover all 3 holes. It is relatively easy to do for plumber...
