My computer has been warning me that I have little memory left in it. I removed some of the programs I had installed but it still gives me that message. What can I do? Is there something else I have to do?

I am sure that there are many things that yo can do and Archiving is one of them to a compressed file. And obviously purchasing additional memory

First post the exact message.
Then, if you are running a recent version of Windows, press CTRL-ALT-DEL, click "Task Manager", click the "Performance" tab", and compare the "Commit Charge Peak" value to the "Physical Memory Total" value. If CCP is greater than PMT, the computer is making use of what's called a swap file which is a file on your hard disk (slow) that Windows uses to swap the contents of portions of memory (fast) to when it doesn't have enough physical memory to hold everything. Another indicator of this is the hard drive light on the computer case running all the time. Adding more physical memory is the solution for this scenario. More info on the values is available in the Task Manager's Help.
If the values are similar or PMT is larger than CCP, you have another issue. Do you get any messages about virtual memory?

How much memory do you have, the PMT value?
For XP, I find 512 MB or more is required for the experience not to be painful.
For Vista, 2 GB.
(mgtz83, I'm heading to bed, will check back later today)
