Did he say that he wanted to be with her, instead of you... or did he say, "She's a nice girl, I really like her (as a person).'

When I was dating a girl, whenever I met her friends, I'd tell her, "She's nice, I like her," but it didn't mean anything affectionate; simply meant that I liked her friend as a person.

Now, if he's talking about how he wants to be with her instead of you, well, then you know what to do.
