This is the only thing I remember:
It was a movie in the 80's and it was about the same year as the neverending story
A girl entered a cave full of green stones that looked like emeralds and she had to choose 3 stones to figure out something.

Just a stab in the dark.. but in Goonies there were three stones that fit a key that the "boy" had and when he turned it a boobie trap was trigged. It happened in a cave? Just a guess.

It kind of sounds like return to oz... here is the plot...
