We had a sewer vent just replaced but it did not go past 2 feet above our floor. We were told it wouldnot let the gas vent in the air though it did not lead out side.We have smelled sewer gas for a month now.It is over power our home it smells so bad.The smell is comeing from the vent that was suppose to keep the gas from coming in the house.I have five children and another on the way.

I don't believe that. Was a permit pulled for the work?
Sewer gas is not good for you. It's primary component is methane, but it is colorless and odorless.
He may have installed an Air Admittance Valve.

What needs to be done to eliminate strong sewer/methane smell... from newly installed (two months ago), two stage Goodman furnace with a/c and humidifier!! And city inspection sticker... system was not vented through chimney as was old system but is vented to outside house from basement.
Smell is driving us crazy!

KISS is correct, sewer gas is harmful to your families health and should be corrected at once. This two foot pipe? Does it have a fitting on it that looks like this? (see image) or is it open? Where did they terminate the heating vent? Near or under any windows or doors? Back to you, Tom
