What component is present in every part of a loop, such as one that involves proteins producing energetic molecules from sugars?

That's an oddly worded question, but I believe the answer would be raw materials.

My thoughts were electrons. When talking about the loops I thought she may be talking about the electron rings and the electron configuration. Could be wrong, but sounds like a chemistry question I had last semester.

Interesting. I found this as a multiple choice question all over the net... with the choices being
A. Raw Materials
B. Energy release
C. Energy absorption
D. Information
I found many guesses (I admit, I was guessing from the recesses of my limited Biology memories), but only one attempt at an explanation, here:

Tracey, is it multiple choice?
... and are you studying Kreb's cycle?
... suppose this ought to be in homework help too, huh?

If she is studying Kreb's Cycle we would be talking about the Electron Transport System (ETS), or Cellular Respiration.
We start with the substrate glucose which produces Pyruvic Acid and then Acetyl CoA. This is Glycolysis and Transition Reaction.
Tracey24, are you wanting to know where ATP is produced? And How many ATPs are produced. This comes under the heading of Microbiology.

This particular question has been posted at Ask Me about 17 times. Including yesterday and the day before, although always by different "people." It definitely looks like a reference to cellular respiration, I agree with all of you. But it's such a strangely worded question. The people who post these questions don't seem to come back and answer any questions. Is it a game? I'm not sure it matters what the answer it. But I do wonder who posts and why. The one that's part of a list in Biology has 1855 looks but only 5 answers. Why would people look at that question? Is it an internet treasure hunt? Also odd is that the questions do not look as though they written by anyone who understood the science behind them. They are nearly meaningless.

A correct answer would be "energy." But I don't see why information would be the answer. What information? Can you describe the specific message?
Also, what is Penn Foster?

I am telling you that the true and right answer is "Information". If you read your book you will see that "energy" is some what related, but more in depth to your question you will see that "Information" answers your question.

Questionshelp,
Thanks for trying to help me. I just googled Penn Foster and now know that it is a distance learning company. So I guess this loop question comes from one of PF's tests and you are providing the answers. Are the many people posting the question all trying to pass the test so they can get academic credit and an online degree? Do you work for PF?
My own interest has nothing to do with distance learning or Penn Foster. That is, I am not trying to pass any test. I am instead suggesting that the answer "Information" is wrong even if Penn Foster thinks it is right. I am asking you (or someone) to explain how information can be the right answer to this question. The process of making energy-rich molecules such as ATP and NADH is not an information rich system (like copying or transcribing DNA or RNA, for example).
This question seems to be about the transformation of the chemical energy in glucose sugar into a form that's easier for cells to use, namely ATP. The energy in ATP is instantly available for virtually any chemical reaction. It's like cash. Whereas the energy in glucose is more like a T-bill. Save and reliable, but not very good for just buying a bag of groceries. Why does Penn and Foster thing that energy transformation is about information?
Best,
Just Asking

I do work with Penn Foster and I will say that the Question throws people on a loop. If the students would just read the Book that is provided for them they will latter find out that information gives them a few options to salve the problem at hand. I could email you the text that will provide you with what "information" is about. I will add that this question being the first question asked of the students. Is one of the hardest questions. I try to help the students understand what the question is asking and not give the answers but to this one it is very hard to understand.
