My son who is disabled has lived at the same residence for 3 years. He is behind in his rent in the amount of$625 and his current rent of $725.00 is due. On oct 8 we received a letter demanding that all monies be paid by Oct 15. My son receives S.S.I and he was working. He has made payment towards the deliquent rent due. He recently lost his job. Today he received a 3 day notice to pay or quit. What happens next? Do we have to move in 3 days? What can we do? Is there a way to be allowed more time to come up with the monies due? Are they any organizations or programs that can help us. We live in riverside county

Assuming that the notice was from the landlord not the court,
If it is from the landlord and they are not moved out, then they go to the court and file for an eviction with the court. If they do not move by that time, the court sends someone over to set their property to the curb.
At the court you can ask for more time, but unless there is a for sure plan to pay it all in a short time, don't expect the court to be willing to help.
Also part of the trouble is that in one week you are not going to normally get help from social agencies, many may have a week or more wait to even get in to be seen. But you should have them check with the local welfare agency as to programs.
Also if they are members of a local religoiuis group, they should be checked with.

I received an eviction notice today & it said that I have to be out in 3 days. I'm very angry & scared because I left a voice message at the rent office telling them I'd pay the rent * late charges also at the end of this week (7 days late on rent). Please tell me that this isn't something final! They can't just put me out on three days notice can they? My 6 month lease is officially up on the 30th of this month (November) please help!! Lyndie
