I've got a gym style shower & the threads were you srew the cover on is stripped. So do I have to replace the drain or is there a quik fix?

Hi Mtpockit...

You could try to fill the holes with a PLASTIC EPOXY or plumber's epoxy (sold at all home supply stores)... here you mix epoxy from tubes and then push deep into screw holes to fill the stripped threads. Then, when epoxy is hardened I would drill a hole about 1/4" deep (no more.. could go through the drain) a size or two smaller than the screw threads and then hand screw the screws through the strainer to finish installation.

I would NOT just screw the screws into the new epoxy threads as you could expand and CRACK the drain... now or later. Drill out with drill bit as suggested.

This should get you up and running again!

Let us know what you think...
