My niece (my sister's daughter) is 16 and pregnant. They are kicking her out and she has no where to go. I am willing to take care of her but last time I took her in the called the cops and said I kidnapped her so I want to make sure I do everything legally and make sure I have custody of her. I just don't know where to go or what to do.

If they do kick her out, she needs to go to your local Family Services agency for assistance. Have her tell them, that she has an aunt that is willing to take her in and act as her guardian. You can even go with her to the agency.

They will then advise you on how to file for guardianship and, most likely, allow her to go home with you. Get this in writing and if they call the cops again, present the documentation to the cops.

Thanks. So would that be the DSHS office? Where you would get medical and food stamps and stuff? That's the only place I could think of.

It varies from locality to locality, but that sounds like it or at least a good place to start.

Normally there is a Family and Children Services, office where they take care of foster care, and children taken into custody of the state.
