I have an oval pool that has a place to put skimmer on either end of pool. The plate that covers the side not in use fell down between the liner and outside of pool. Do I have to take the whole pool apart to get it or can I just remove top railing and reach down? Also if I don't retrieve it, what is the liklihood of it tearing the liner. Its sitting about a foot from the bottom. Thanks

Hi, I haven't has this problem before but I would try to get it out without taking the whole pool apart if possible, if not I would take it apart. If you have children, like I do the first thing that will happen will be one of them will kick it or something and the liner will be tore and you will have to repair or replace the liner. Good luck.

Hi, I believe you can take off a few pieces of your top rail and gently pull the liner open enough to reach in and grab the skimmer plate or use something to pull it out, I would not leave it in... a new liner can be costly and much harder to replace. Good Luck!

You will need to drain some water out of the pool in order to reach behind the liner. It is deceiving just how powerful water is, without draining you will not be able to get so much as your fingers much below the waterline.

So long as you don't drain too much (Leave a minimum of 12-18" of water) you should experience no problems and be able to simply fill it back up.
