I told myself it was never going to happen, not to me, but it did.. now my ex girlfriend is pregnant after a painful breakup she tells me this.

She is completely unwilling to go through with abortion or adoption and wants to carry on with the childbirth because she is afraid she will not be able to get pregnant again. She is also unwilling to talk to me about anything that happens with the baby or the pregnancy.

I'm currently rounding out my bachelor's degree and will be having to pay steep loan repayments for the years of college, I have a decent job but money will be very tight, I can provide insurance (med/dental) but is she still entitled to a full 20% of my income if she wants to do this on her own? I'm feeling like she's taking her revenge on me by making me pay for this.

I've tried calling a few places to talk to an attorney but the ones around here are unwilling unless I pay for consultation.

I was just wanting to possibly know if there was anything I could do if she was unwilling to share this information with me. And also about the child support options I have ahead of me do I have anything that could help me into paying less due to my cost of college repayment? Or is it just whatever she wants up to 20% income?

(This is in IL)

I'm really sorry if these questions have been asked before.. Thanks in advance.

Once the baby is born she will go to court for support. The judge will order a DNA test and when it comes back positive will order support. It is based off your pay it is a set percent for the child. Meanwhile, while she is getting ready to go to court for support you petition the judge for visitation. There are ways to help you repay your loans with MANY things through the loan company. I know this because I went to a private college and paid for it with loans not mom and dads money like a lot of people in private schools. So guessing that you went with a big loan company they will work with you a lot because they don't want you to fail at repayment any more than you do. But as far as if it's "whatever she wants up to 20%" no, it's the set percentage plus what the judge orders as far as insurance.

Plus 1/2 daycare and also 1/2 medical copays and the list can go on. Its children first anything else second so your going to need to drop the attitude and start thinking about how to raise your child in a proper manner as best as you can.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not meaning to come about this with any attitude, I know what needs to be done and I know I'm legally responsible.
