We have been been having unprotected sex for 7 years now, and have never got pregnant.

I am in no rush to have kids, but my GP sent me to get further tests done. Since then its suspected that it is most likely a problem occurring from having chlamydia years ago.

To investigate further they have asked me whether I would like to go through HSG or a laparoscopy... im dreading both.

So can anyone (who has actually had it done) how it was, if you know the benefits or negatives of each procedure, etc?? How painful or uncomfortable it is?

Thanks

The HSG is uncomfortable if you don't take anything ahead of time. My doctor had me take 2 Advil. That wasn't enough. If I had to do it again I'd take 4 Advil or I'd ask him for a painkiller. The benefit of the procedure is that even though my HSG didn't show anything, I conceived for the first time almost immediately after I had it done. My doctor thinks that "blowing out the tubes" can really help. :)

Good luck!

Hi, This is Ritu and I'm trying to conceive from last 4 yrs but I have a irregular period problem.

I had both the procedure done.

HSG was so painful at that time when procedure was going on and a little bit painful after that. But Laparo was so not painful at the procedure time becoz doctor had gave me anesthesia but after that over it was really painful for 3-4 days and I was not able to stand straight.

But now I'm OK from all theses pains but still trying and now my doctor suggest for another HSG as it was done 3 yrs. Back.

I think info is useful for u.

Thanks
