I'm 25 years old and my father never supported me since birth. I remember going to court as a teenager with my mom for him to pay us child support, he never showed up to any hearings. Is there anything I can do now to possibly get funds to help with school or medical expenses? I feel that just because I'm adult now I should not be exempt from money that he has owed me all my life.

Child support is paid to the custodial parent for the benefit of the child. You mother would have to pursue collecting back support owed, if there was court ordered support.

Even though you went with your mother when you were a teenager it was for him to pay her (your mother) not the two of you. So as Scott said your mother is the only one that was and is entitled to the back support and even if she was able to collect it, it would still be her money and it would be up to her to decide if she wanted to share it with you.

There is a very interesting situation in NY State posted by Zawatska on the "finding people" thread - she has taken her birth father to Family Court for back support and actually will be having the DNA test tomorrow.
I initially couldn't believe that the Court is/was entertaining this but they are and she's very well informed on the subject.
By the way, she's 20.
