Sounds like the DRM copy protection is still in place. We can't help you disable that.
However, there are programs out there, like iTunes, that I believe are inherently designed to help you do what you're looking for. With iTunes you can rip music to your iTunes library, then add it to your mobile listening devices. You'll have to check the sites for those programs and talk to the power-users there to find out for sure.

What device are you trying to copy to?

IF you have Itunes rip the cd in there. Make sure you have it set to rip as mp3 not 4. If you phone shows up as a drive in my computer when you have it connected to your PC just drop the mp3's onto to that drive. I do it all the time I have a Nokia N95.

Um, just for chuckles, look at the SD card. Does it have a copy protection tab?

Yes, the lock button is a copy protection button. It's MAIN purpose is to keep from accidentally deleting files, but it also keeps you from adding new ones.
