The reality of it is themetalfan08, that if you are the biological father of a child or children, that you're going to have to take responsibility for that child or children being brought into this world. That's the way things have been set up in the United States. You have to do that financially for a number of years. Whether you have to do it emotionally and physically by being present for children is a choice that you will have to make.

All children want a dad that will love them and be there for them somehow, even if mom and dad are split up.

If there is some reason that's keeping you from getting a job, then please let us know here. There are many ways that a person can find a way to make money or be employed by someone else. How much child support you will have to pay will be determined by a court and by how much you earn.

I'm sure that others will also be along to address your question.

Thanks!

It's true that you will have to pay if it is your kid. You can't just make baby's and leave them hangin. I know the job market it tough right now and as said support is based off your earnings unless you have no earnings then you will be ordered the state minimum. However, the jude is likely to have you go to extra lenghts to look for a job so that your child can eat and sleep with a roof over his/her head. Is there some reason that you can't work? Even at a car wash or something?

Well tough, get a job, Mcdonalds is normally hiring, go to day labor places.

If you are the father of the child you are to pay child support, the state will set it at the state min if you are not working.

So get ready to find a way to pay, or you may find yourself in trouble

And I'll add that when the arrearages reach a certain level the Court could order that the OP be jailed.

Get a job, as many as you need to support the kids you made. Your ex is well within her rights to make you pay.

You could go to jail, so you do have options.

San Jose is a major metropoltian area. There is excellent public transportation out there for you to benefit from. There shouldn't be anything stopping you from getting a job. You need to find what you can and work hard at it as now you have a kid to support. In Cali as soon as they put arrears on you it comes with 10% interest so the longer you put it off the longer its going to last. They can do great harm to your livelyhood if you don't pay. Including jail time. Bottom line is your obligated to support this child for the next 18 years like it or not.
