I am starting to sell Avon (cosmetics) and they will not allow me to use my nickname, which everyone knows me by. The website will say my legal name and I think it will confuse my customers to go to a website with my legal name if they know me as my nickname.

My question is... can I put my nickname on the form I fill out so it will say my nickname? I'm worried that come tax time, my name on my W2 will not match my legal name and it might be an issue. Please advise!!

Thanks!

Why can't you do both, for example Sandra ("Sandy") Smith?

Your SS will be all that matters for tax purposes. A lot of women work in their maiden names, not their married name. Two names, one SS number.

Judy is correct; as long as the SSN on the W-2 is accurate, the "given" name can be anything.
