Hello, I was 3 minutes into a the washing cycle and it was making a sound like it was out of balance. I lifted the lid, adjusted the towels and shut the lid. It will not start. Not on any setting. It will click when I turn the dial like it wants to chance cycles, but nothing happens. Now, I have a full washer (I think I over loaded it with towels) and I cannot figure out how to drain it. Any help would be apprieciated.

You have a direct drive washer built by Whirlpool. Three minutes into the wash should still be in the agitation phase of the cycle. This washer will usually still agitate normally with an out of balance load, so I don't think what you were hearing had anything to do with the load. So, to make sure I understand what's happening... You started the washer, it filled and started to agitate normally. Then, you started to hear an abnormal noise, so you raised the lid and moved the clothes around, but when you closed the lid and pulled the timer knob out, the machine is completely silent except for some clicking in the timer? I wonder if you hear a slight click as you open and close the lid? If not, you may have a bad lid switch, but most Whirlpool washers will agitate with the lid open, so that may not be it. I wonder if you could somehow describe the noise you heard initially, or relate the sound to what something else sounds like so I might better understand the noise you heard?

Model 23822 type 111

The top of the agitator appears weak. I believe the claws of devise failed.

I also have opened a washer to find a water soaked laundry.

What can i do other than another washer?
