My bathroom is small and narrow. We are going to remodel it. I currently have a mirror on the wall that is directly across the cabinet mirror over the sink. This mirror is just a full length mirror that I put in a horizontal position. I like it because it helps me see the back of my head when doing my hair. I would like to keep it that way for that reason, as well as the fact that the wall gets full of hairspray and it's easier to clean. I've been reading on decorative solutions and have noticed that it's not a popular idea to put mirrors directly across from each other. I still would like to anyway. Can you give me an idea on how to work with this, such as should I use a decorated mirror, a plain mirror, a wall to ceiling one, or just half of one? What is the best way to deal with this? By the way, I have long, thigh length hair and having a mirror there just makes it easier to work with it when I put it up. Thank you.

I would decorate as it pleases me and is to my advantage, not how the magazines think it should be. After all, is Oprah coming over for a visit?

Yes, I completely agree! That's why I said I was going to do it anyway. But what I wanted was advice for the type of mirror to use, since the mirrors above the sink will be full size I wanted IDEAS as to what type of mirror to use across those. I'm thinking full size on each wall would be a bit much... so just looking for opinions. Maybe there's someone out there who has had the same problem or question.

The simplest is a mirror and no frame, but you need something to accent this like being placed on a door.

You might try a mirror with some sort of border on the length sides. Like a framed mirror with veneer on either side.

Aha!. I see what you're saying. Thanks for the idea. The veneer idea made me think of venetian blinds, which gives me another idea. I might could do a hidden mirror behind something. I'm thinking about those venetian blind decorated mirrors I've seen. Or maybe a picture with a hidden mirror inside. Something I could close up after I'm done using it. It would have to be something thin that would not protrude from the wall a lot because like I said, the space between the sink and wall is VERY narrow. It's about 2 feet.

How about this as a silly idea. Put a flat mirror on the wall and then make a valence to conceal a shade and a fluorescent lamp.

You could get a motorized shade if you use it a lot.

On the shade, you could have a company like "Fast Signs" put whatever picture you would like on the shade.

For fun, you could even do a window scene with a picture seen through the window or any other picture of your choice.

I'll add another penny.

I really like that idea because we currently have a window that we are going to seal up because I just don't want a window in the bathroom (we never use it anyway, and the curtain remains closed at all times), and so the valance idea is something to think about! Thanks so much for your extra penny!
