Hi!
I am being considered a trainee at one of the hotels in West Virginia.
I'll be holding a j1 visa and would only stay up to 18 months.
Then I have to go back to the Philippines.

I was wondering what taxes am I going to pay or if ever
I'll still pay any? And will I still get tax deductions from my
Salary?

Here's the thing..
The hotel has asked us to look for our own place and we will have to shoulder
All the cost(i.e rent and utilities). Do I still have to pay my taxes for these?

I just want to know what am going to face with once I go there so I won't get shocked!

Thanks!

As a J1 trainee, you are exempt from residency for two years. You do not pay FICA taxes. You must file non-resident tax return.
Your income is subject to federal and state income taxes.
You may get deduction based on tax treaty between the U.S. and your country.
