We recently moved our hot water tank and to keep the coper pipes dry while saudering the joints together, we used a piece of bread to block the water. It's been 24+ hours and the water is still not going through the pipes into the hot water tank and out through the house. Help! Aside from taking everything apart and redoing the pipes - what can we do? Just wait it out?

Try turning the water off, then trun it back on. If the bread is still having an effect, the force of flow should at least dislodge it.
If this water pipe involves an ice-machine in the freezer of the refrigerator, it should have a shut-0ff/bleeder value close at hand. Try opening it up to see if there is water at that junction.

Make sure the water tank is accepting the water. Open the valve at the bottom and
bleed some off.
Sorry, that's all I can suggest except to take the last soldering apart and see if.

Turn the water off before you do that... you don't want a flood on your hands.

Awe, good old bread trick. Sounds good but can give you more headaches than its worth. Are you having problems with just the hot water or both hot and cold? If its just the hot, and it is the bread that's causing the problem, them it should take care of itself soon. However, if you put the bread in like you were loading a muzzle loader, you may have a problem. Try carols advice, just leave a hot faucet open and turn the main water off and on very quickly several time, see if it doesn't dislodge the clog.

What pipes did you put the bread in? Cold water inlet. Hot water outlet or both? Upstream of what joints? How much bread did you stuff in there anyhow? Talk to me! Regards, Tom
