Hi was wondering if anybody could advise me on the best kind of vitamins and supplements for me to take. Im in the early stages of pregnancy and a vegetarian. I also don't eat fish so I'm guessing I will need omega3 supplements. Anybody got any advice?? Oh also forgot to add I'm also taking pregnacare at the moment. Xx:)

Well I would just point out to you, your babies health and even his intelligence and birthweight can be affected by what his mother does during pregnancy. Make sure you get good prenatal care from your doctor. If it was me I would put aside any fads like that in the interest of what was in the best interests of my child. You are asaking, so you don't have enough information and knowhow to take such a big risk for his future. You want him to grow up strong and healthy and smart and buy his mom all kinds of nice stuff.
You and what you want, well we get back to that, if we indeed can even remember what it was, about the time his car pulls out of the driveway when he leaves for college (or even medical school)

The fact that you have to ask means you don't know what you are doing, which is fine for you, but could wind up hurting your son.

The Pregnacare will have what you need... along with your regular diet. You can get Omega3 in some of the Pregnacare supplements so check which one you have. You can also get it by having some walnuts or flaxseed each day. Ground flaxseed works well in yogurts, on cereal, in a fruit smoothie, in baking, etc.
B12 is likely to be one of the biggest concerns, but many foods are fortified, even vegetarian varieties. It also becomes an issue if you are planning to breastfeed, so having good sources, and staying on the Pregnacare as well, will give you insurance of having what you and baby need.
Iron is often a problem for women in pregnancy so it may be even more of an issue for you... include iron rich foods, and if need be your gp maybe prescribe an iron supplement in addition to the Pregnacare if there is any question.
