I'm putting a new spout on my shower which requires me removing the adapter from the old spout from the pipe. I was told to just twist it off. I'm able to twist it, but it's not coming off. It's stuck on the pipe yet I'm able to turn it. How do I get it off? Did I strip anything?

When you twisted does it have a small cut out and do you see a small set screw, loose that scerw and pull it out, if you don't see a cut out then your spout is not the slip on it is a threaded one you have to turn it more counter clock wise until it is removed, when you are ready to install the new silp on type make to check the nipple for any sharp edge and use some lubricant on sealbefor installation. On the threade type yo will need to apply 4-5 turns of teflon tape, Good Luck.
