Basement floor drain and shower drain does not have a trap. Is there any way to remedy this without breaking up cement floor? Found a product called proset trap guard on the internet. Wondering if this is the easy fix I am looking for? If not, is there anything I can do not so drastic that can fix this problem and pass any smoke and dye tests?? Any suggestions??

Proset Trap Guard! Sounds good but wait! To guard a trap first you must have a trap to guard. Proset Trap Guards which are the same item as a Floor Drain Flood Guard, (see image) won't help you even a little bit. All they do is stay open until a backup occurs. Then,(and only then) do they close. Your untrapped fixtures are spewing sewer gas out into your home every time you flush or drain. Sewer gas's harmful to your families health and the methane content's explosive. Ether seal off the drains of have traps installed. Good luck, Tom

Steelerfan...
Tom's dead on here... the proset trap guard acts as a trap primer but not if no trap present!
Even if bladder is closed during non-use, during use when it opens to allow water to flow past the bladder water flows down drain but sewer gasses also escape into your home as Tom said... that make sense?
Do what Tom has suggested and keep a healthy home!

Agree with Tom and Mark 100%...
Additionally, absence of P-trap is a gross code violation as well as health hazard to you and your family - no matter what part of the country you live in. Without a trap - you basically have an open sewer vent that is venting to living space.

Only way is to break up concrete and install a trap. These guys aren't just blowing smoke up your bottom. This is a serious health issue.
