Hi,

Could somebody please help me? I have naturally red hair which I have been bleaching for the past 5-6 years (not myself but by a hairdresser) however it has started to break. Now the reason I kept bleaching my hair was that for some reason no other regular blond color would take to my roots and I have no idea why. I assume it is because my hair is red.

What I want to know is if anyone can tell me of a specific brand of dye that can lift a red root and maybe I will be able to stop bleaching my hair once and for all.

Help would be greatly appreciated as I have been searching for years.

Thanks.

No dye will lift red colour. Only bleach can as it strips out all the colours from your hair.

It's no surprise your hair is breaking as you've had it bleached for year. Have you tried intensive conditioners/oils weekly? Protected your hair from the sun?

Hey PunkChic, Thanks so much for the response. Really thought there might have been a specific colour to lift the red instead of the bleach. I have been really careful with it i.e. low heat etc.. And I have used treatments but it will grow back for a while but then break again and its driving me crazy and there is no way I am willing to go back red so thought there might have been a solution? Am open to any good suggestions. Thanks again.

There is a colour that lifts colour. It's called high lift tint. But I have never used it on red hair and I doubt it would lift the red.
Red is really nice colour. Perhaps keep it natural with a few blonde flashes running through it. It looks really nice!
