I have a new torro zero turn mower. ive had it in the shop 3 times now and no one can find the problem. You can be cutting with it and it will just shut off. No spitting or spurttering, it just shuts off and will not restart. I have had the gas line, gas filter, air filter oil and filter changed, had the battery checked and still won't run. Had it running the other day and it ran fine, i shut it off and now it won't start again. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. You can e-mail me if you wish [email protected]

First thing to ask is what engine is in the mower.

If it is a Briggs eninge the first thing that comes to my mind when you say it just shuts down is that you have probably lost the power to the solenoid in the bottom of the carb bowl. If it loses power it will shut the gas off going to the engine and it will stop just like turning the key off. Other brand engines use these too although I am more familiar with B&S.

If you turn the key on and off you should be able to hear and feel that solenoid clicking as you move the switch from the off to on position. If you don't hear or feel it that is probably the problem. The wiring for the switch often gets caught behind the starter and could possible be shorting out there.

That's just one possibility. Of course there is the safety switches to be concerned about too. One of them could be malfunctioning.
