My dog is 15 yrs. Old. He is diabetic, blind, deaf and has 2 tumors on the same leg. He is able to walk around. Knows where everything is, but it's a lot of work. He occasionally pees on the floor also. I feel that maybe I'm keeping him alive for myself, but he doesn't seem sick or suffering. The vet said he has a strong heart. I need impute!!

You won't have to question it when the time comes. You little dog will give you a certain look. You will be able to tell from that look because it is different from every look your dog has ever given you before. You will know when it is time. Even if he is blind,he will let you know.

I agree with the above post he will let you know. Enjoy him and give him lots of love.

A dog's idea of heaven is being in the presence of his or her human. They will want to stay with you as long as possible, even if it is awkward. In America, we have this foolish idea that comfort is happiness. But true joy and physical comfort are often completely different things. Your dog will happily stay by your side no matter the effort.
Dogs are also free from the dumb human notion that it is shameful to cry. When they are in pain, they cry. If your dog gets to the point in his illness that he cries with pain, then it is time to help him find peace.
Blessings to you in this difficult time.

Alder is right in that respect, but it truly the "Look" that lets me know when the time is up. Unfortunately,I have known or predicted the death of three loved ones before hand. The Look is what told me of their deaths. My Father,my Step Son,and my little beloved dog. I really don't know what told me these things ,maybe it is their spirits or souls. But for me the Look is the thing that lets me know the end is near. I knew before they died I would never see them again and I am so thankfully I was able to get a big goodby hug from my Step Son. At the moment I did not recognize what it meant ,only that something was going to happen. I did get the Look, but this was so unexpected I couldn't figure out what that really strange feeling was when he hugged me. I felt it was from deep in his soul telling me goodby and to thank me for being a part of his life. I didn't understand until the next morning when we got the news of his death. But truly I know the Look, and you get it from every living thing when their time is over. You just need to know how to recognize it and read what it means.
