I have a terrible mold smell in my ge profile dishwasher, although it looks totally clean inside. I called a plumber who flashed a light inside the dishwasher, sold me a bottle of BioOne, and handed me a bill for $140. The smell is still here, and my husband is not very happy with me for calling the plumber. Does anyone know what the cure is - I am careful to rinse all of my dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. Thanks, Carol in Palm Bay Florida.

I suggest you check the underside of the rubber material around the door. You may find black mold that is called dishwasher cheese and nothing to do with you being not clean enough. It just happens as a build up. And, if I must say, you are the one who has the responsibility of keeping your family clean and you husband should realize that and not give you a hard time for the plumber bill!

Hey Carol, greetings from Sarasota. Tickle came up with a option I hadn't come across as yet. Good thinking Tickle! Let me know if that was it.

my husband is not very happy with me for calling the plumber. No wonder he's unhappy! The plumber sold you drain cleaner and that didn't work. Did he even mention the sump in the bottom of the tub that collects the dirty water that runs out of the hose after the pump shuts off? Go in the dishwasher, sponge the water out of the sump and replace it with full strength bleach. Let it set over night and next morning cycle the washer to flush out the sump, tub and hose. Smell better now?" Good luck, Tom
