I would have to say if you are not in a financial knot... move. If you are then moving is not the ideal thing since new damage deposits and first months rent isn't easy these days then you will have to find ways to deal with it.

It does not sound like the place is haunted by spirits it just sounds like your Landlords negativity is creating these activities which can feel like an actual paranormal phenomena... these types of activities your explaining sounds like a poltergeist... which are usually created from a person. (This is going to sound crazy to some people) Negativity attracts forms of entities. Spirits are different forms then entities and they are not demons but they do cause these shadows and movement of objects. Clearing your home is an option you may want to explore, I would not attempt to contact these entities because they don't want help they just create fear and insecurity. Have you been attacked? Things like this... have you been chocked or grabbed at? Have you ever woke up from a nap or sleep and are completely frozen (cant move, can't talk, can't scream and can't open your eyes)? Or the light goes off in the room and the light switch doesn't work and the door slams shut and won't open and in the darkness you see darker shadows circle you... your stomach is a thousand knots and butterflies fill your void and your heart pounds... nothing but movement and chaos? Do you hear footsteps or people talking? Staking of objects? These are just small tactics they use to make you fear them... you need to tell them this is your home and they need to leave and that they are not welcome here and to go back where they came from. In this process you may utilize the archangels to help give you strength and escort the unwanted. Sage is a Native American method used for clearing, ensure you are ready by clearing yourself first and then proceed to burn sage around the house. The Egyptians used water with frankincense, place in a spray bottle can be used to clear the air and the corners of your home (since negative energy likes to clog up in the corners), pulse it's a way of cleaning the air naturally with some aroma therapy... very calming. I have salt rocks that are neutralizing the ions in the air (since everything is made of matter) and they are extremely beneficial for many reasons (insomnia, eating disorders, addictions and relaxation). You can use amethyst rocks to the left corners of the home, which is a stone of Spirituality & Contentment - enhances spiritual awareness and has strong healing and cleansing powers. Dispels, anger rage, fear and anxiety. It opens intuition and enhances psychic gifts. Lastly, you may take pure salt and dilute it in a bowl of water and place where you feel you need to (usually under the bed) and leave for three days, this is important... bag it and get it off the property (don't spill it down the sink) it absorbs so you don't want it back in the house that would defeat the purpose. I wear Archangel Michael around my neck; use this archangel for protection. Of course if this sounds crazy to you then you are not open minded and I suggest finding a new place to live, but I do feel your pain I lived across two grave yards to the east of my apartment and to the north of my apartment I lived by an old building that use to be (at different eras) a ministry, a psych ward, a school for special children, a hospital and the history wasn't all that pleasant... its boarded up and just recently fell victim to fire... the tower still stands... The grounds the apartment complex was built on land on (100 years ago) a small town... the churches still stand. I thought it wouldn't bother me but I knew better! I was tormented by black shadows and a little boy would visit me, I hated the hallway... oh and the above examples and more, they broke things (mostly mirrors) and threw things, move things and well... then I got pregnant and said we need to get out and buy a house now... so we did. I was ignoring everything around me but it just gets worse. My sister wouldn't come over... you don't need this, I wasn't aware of these methods at the time but I have cleared homes since and people don't experience any problems after. This far fetched for you?

Moving out is the obvious answer. Although here's something to think about: There really isn't such a thing as "negative" energy. It's all just energy. If a power line near my house breaks and the power line is lying in a big puddle of water, I think of the energy in it as "negative"--very likely to kill me or someone I love. But if I have the right know-how to fix it, to properly plug in and channel that energy--or at least the know how to call someone who does, then that same energy can be used to power my home and all sorts of nifty modern conveniences. Energy is dangerous when we are not properly oriented to it.

But energy like you describe is energy that only an expert medicine worker could properly orient to. Reminds me of that rock out in California (someone help me remember the name of the place or the tribe with which it is associated). It's very popular with climbers, but the local Native Americans don't want people climbing it because it is sacred to them. The climbers don't understand this, saying, "What do you mean sacred? You never touch it, never go near it. You build your houses to face away from it. You don't even speak its name. How can it be sacred?" The answer is they see it as a reservoir of dangerous energy. Only their best and brightest, properly initiated medicine workers go there and draw up some of the energy to be used in healing ceremonies.

But that's the technical answer. The simple answer is move out. If that's not an option, cleansing like aprilwine suggested, along with wrapping your rooms in some kind of white light protective boundary, would be advisable. Read up on various techniques, and use the one that speaks to your soul. You might find you like doing that sort of stuff--and suddenly you're off on a whole new adventure!

In chemistry you learn about positive and negative ions composing matter (energy). Lightning strikes because a positive and negative opposites meet. So yes negative energy does exist as does positive energy but as Alder suggests "Energy is dangerous when we are not properly oriented to it" and he is absolutely right. Do not proceed to light working strategies if you are not comfortable sometimes the efforts made can worsen.
