My 19 year old son and 17 yr old girlfriend are expecting a baby in a few weeks. They have an on again off again relationship, at which time she always threatens to not let him see his son after he is born. What rights does he have?

Sorry but the first thing to come to mind the right to be in a better stable relationship before having sex with the girl.

But beyond that, once the baby is born, he can file for visitition and as long as he is not threat to the child he will get at least standards visists with the child. He will of course have a set child support to pay.

Until the child is born, none. After the baby is born he needs to go to court to get a visitation order put in place. Of course the judge will also do a support order but if he dosen't go to court to establish paternaty and get the orders he won't have any rights. That's just one of the reasons people have to really think about what they are doing before having a sexual relationship.

He should sign the birht certificate and (possibily) an acknowledgement of paternity. That will make him the legal father unless contested. In the case of unmarried parents, the mother generally has the upper hand, unless there is a court agreement in place.
