Hi,

I am getting ready to move out of an apartment I have rented for 3 years. I am physically disabled with a scooter to help me get around. I am worried about the apartment move-out inspection because my scooter has caused accidental damage to a wall & the door of the refrigerator. I used to have information about my move out rights as a disabled person & remember seeing info about renter's having to make accommodations for disabled people & the damage their wheelchairs & scooters can cause. I am on a limited income & I need some kind of proof to show to the landlord about these accommodations because I can't afford to pay for these damages my chair caused.

If you can't get out of it if you have a friend that does repairs I would ask them to do an estimate for you so the landlord doesn't try to get you for hundreds more. Maybe even see if somebody could repair them cheaply.

Are you saying the damage was caused because accommodations were not made?
If you can prove in court what they should have done and didn't you maybe should just let them take you to court. I would think your security deposit should cover the damage if all it was was like one panel of dry wall and a fridge door. But again if it is something you can fight I would fight it.
