Partial Toe Nail Removal Anyone here ever had it..

they removed about one quarter on the left and right side of both nails and then removed the nail bed, root and matrix with an acid called phenol. I had both my big toes done about 2 weeks ago, their healing well, still a little sensitive, and I'm told their will be fluid build up for up to a month in the areas where the acid was applied.. not pretty! I was just wondering how long it took after the surgery did you notice the skin begin to grow along the edges? And how long did it take you to put on a pair of tennis shoes...

So, akez, you haven't said why this had to be done. It may effect the answers.

I had part of my big toenail removed because there was black underneath which had to be investigated. Turned out it was old blood. No problem, no pain. And everything started to mend in four weeks.

Ah, good point! It was a result of a fungus... I believed I obtained from a pedicure. Oh, how I miss those!

My mom had a fungus under her one big toe and had to have the entire nail removed. It took her about 2 months before she could wear tennis shoes again.
