Do I have to pay Georgia State taxes if I have my main residence in Florida but have an apartment in Georgia? I work for an automotive manufacturer and travel to dealerships in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. I will retain my Florida Residency but the company I work for wants me to get an apartment for in Georgia to reduce hotel costs when I am up that way. They will reimburse me for the Apartment - I will be there approx. 30% of the time.
Thanks!

Bluzz:

You are responsible for paying GA state income taxes on ANY income earned within the GA state borders. It is irrelevant whether you are staying in a hotel or an apartment.

This law is consistent across ALL states that have state income taxes.

Now, if you set up an apartment, it is more likely that the state tax officials will take notice of your work activities.
