The discriminant is b^{2}-4ac

Plug in you're a,b,c and see what you get.

Here are the conditions.

If the discriminant is >0, then it has 2 real roots.

If it = 0, then it has one real root of multiplicity 2.

If it is <0, then it has no real roots.
