If your tubes were blocked whould you still have a period? Doesn't the egg break down, and it causes your period, or is that the lining of the uterus?

You will still have a period. What causes a period is the surges in hormones, not the egg itself.

It's the lining... as J_9 said, changes in hormones cause the lining to be established in preparation of supporting a pregnancy... no pregnancy, progesterone drops and a period occurs.
