I have recently added a fish pond to my backyard. We switched out the pump to a stronger one, which was plugged in to my back deck outlet. After a couple weeks, it quit working, along with other outlets in the house. It was suggested that I replace the reset button in my garage and the breaker. Well, the bathroom outlets are now on, but not my two in the kitchen or the deck! If I try to plug in the pump, it kicks all the outlets back off. My boyfriend even tried to put in a 30 amp breaker, since they're on a 15, but used the same wiring. Anyway, my pond is now plugged in behind my couch in my living room with a cord running across my floor! I can't afford an electrician. I pray you can help me!

Thanks So Much For This Service!!

All I can say is don't let your boyfriend touch any else electrical and have someone put the 15 back in. He was stupid for doing what he did!

Do you own this house?

You need someone knowledgeable in electrical work to check all the receptacles on this circuit.
Pretty much everything you describe requires GFI protection so there should be at least on on this circuit.

If you have all that stuff on one circuit in the first place it would be a good idea to eventually have someone come out and run a few extra circuits. Especially to the kitchen.

Thanks so much for responding. As far as I know, he did put the 15 back in, and I tried to tell him that the man at Home Depot said not to do that! Anyway, I do own the house, which is about 14 years old. I guess I just need to have someone take a look at it. Especially, since I have almost hurt myself tripping over the cord across my living room floor! :o Take Care!
