Hello, I'm a new member to this site. I am so worried about my dogs Fleetwood and Mac. They are only five years old and have been diagnosed with Coccidia. Maccy was vomitting and had diarreha two weeks ago. Now she is better and my other dog has become worse. My poor Fleetwood has had diarreha for five days now with blood in his stool. He has gone to the bathroom about 30 times in the last 24 hours. Any suggestions, how do I get rid of this organism or disease? They have been prescribed with Albon but it doesn't seem to be working for Fleetwood. Any suggestions? Please help!

Look at Coccidia (Coccidiosis) in Dogs: A Cause of Diarrhea (http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?articleid=727)
The disease is caused by an organism that is commonly found in the dog's intestine, for some unknown reason it starts to multiply and causes disease when an animal is stressed sometimes called shipping fever. When one animal falls ill, the large numbers of coccidia organisms shed in its feces quickly contaminate the area and can lead to an explosive outbreak affecting a lot of dogs. Can be vaccinated against but there is more than one kind just like with flu vaccines so some times they get it anyway.
