Roommate & her boyfriend smoke weed in apartment. Boyfriend became violent, broke furniture, put hole in wall & bled on carpet. Have 13 month old baby and want to get out of lease with this idiot before all my furniture is destroyed or most importantly our safety is feared. Granted this all happened when we were gone one weekend but could have happened while we were there! What are options? There is about 6 months left on lease...

What is your landlord like? Personally, as a landlord, I'd want to be "in" on what's going on, and if you came to me right away with the problem I'd try to assist you. If you waited, tried to handle it on your own, or ducked out, after it became a huge mess, I wouldn't be as sympathetic. So that's one option.

What do you want to do? You move out? Have the roommate move out and find someone else?

Can't you at least threaten that you will call the police any time that you catch them doing drugs in your apartment? Or will the police generally stay out of this as a civil matter?

What is the lease situation? Are you both on a lease with a landlord or is the roommate your tenant?

In my experience, if there are drugs and a baby involved the police will generally get involved. The general roommate squabbling they'll not get involved in.

I'd leave the premesis and call them in... repeatedly, if necessary. If OP stays there when the cops come she could be charged, too, since it's her residence.
