I hadn't heard the song before so I pulled up the video just for you.

Lyrics:
There's a hero If you look inside your heart You don't have to be afraid Of what you are There's an answer If you reach into your soul And the sorrow that you know Will melt away
And then a hero comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you'll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you
It's a long road When you face the world alone No one reaches out a hand For you to hold You can find love If you search within yourself And the emptiness you felt Will disappear
And then a hero comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you'll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you
Lord knows Dreams are hard to follow But don't let anyone Tear them away Hold on There will be tomorrow In time You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you'll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you

It was great, with her voice any song can be. Personally I go back and forth. Some parts are great “Lord knows Dreams are hard to follow But don't let anyone Tear them away Hold on There will be tomorrow in time you'll find the way” but tomorrow isn't always there is it? (My grandma died last night) But the message of holding on even though it's hard is still true.

When she says “You don't have to be afraid of what you are” I remember the brokenness I'm made of, the pieces that I carry and how they cut me and the pain. I look at the people I love and remember the times I've tried to reach out to them and have walked away only injuring them.
Yet, living in fear isn't the answer either.

The words “There's an answer if you reach into your soul and the sorrow that you know will melt away” remind me of the answers I find in God. I could argue semantics but the concept is basically right. I don't have any of life's important answers inside of myself, but God lives in me through His grace and forgiveness and He's given me everything I need and more. So I could say “I've finally seen the truth, that a hero lies in you, I mean me.”
